The articles on this page offer a deeper look at the philosophy behind our work at Compass Rose Healing Arts.

They are not meant to give one fixed answer about healing. Instead, they explore the relationship between our human experience, our energetic system, consciousness, Soul, personal growth, and the choices we make along the way.

Healing in present time

Healing Happens in the Present

We cannot erase what happened. But we can change what continues to live because it happened.

At Compass Rose Healing Arts, we begin with a different understanding of healing.

We do not believe you need to spend your life examining your wounds. We do not believe every painful experience needs to be excavated, analyzed, or repeatedly retold in order to be healed. And we certainly do not believe that your past should become your identity.

We believe healing happens in present time.

An experience may have happened five, twenty, or fifty years ago, yet some part of us may still be living according to what was learned in that moment.

The eight-year-old who learned she had to earn love may still be trying to earn it as an adult. The young person who learned that being fully themselves resulted in rejection may still be performing, pleasing, hiding, or adapting in order to be chosen. The person who experienced betrayal may enter every new relationship expecting betrayal to happen again.

The event is over.

But what was created because of the event may still be very much alive.

We cannot erase what happened. But we can change what continues to live because it happened.

This is central to the healing philosophy of Compass Rose.

We Do Not Need to Re-Traumatize Ourselves to Heal

There is an important distinction between acknowledging our history and living inside of it.

My approach is not what I call forensic healing. I do not believe we need to continually return to the scene of an experience, reconstruct every detail, or repeatedly expose ourselves to the emotions surrounding it in order for meaningful healing to occur.

There are times when clinical trauma therapy and careful exploration of the past are appropriate and necessary. Compass Rose does not replace that care.

Our work offers something different.

We begin with what is present.

What keeps repeating?

What still hurts?

What are you afraid will happen again?

Where are you abandoning yourself, protecting yourself, diminishing yourself, or responding from an earlier version of who you were?

What belief about yourself or life is still operating even though the circumstances that created it are long gone?

The past often tells us it is still asking for healing through the life we are living today.

That means we do not necessarily have to go looking for it.

The Soul and the Human Experience

My understanding of healing is also rooted in my spiritual understanding of the human experience.

I understand each of us to be a Soul having a human experience. Our challenges, relationships, disappointments, losses, trials and initiations become opportunities for the evolution of consciousness.

This does not mean suffering should be romanticized or that painful experiences should simply be called blessings. Some experiences are profoundly difficult.

But what happens next belongs to us.

We can learn.

We can come to acceptance.

We can develop compassion and wisdom.

Sometimes we discover gratitude—not necessarily gratitude that something painful happened, but gratitude for what we came to understand, reclaim or become through our healing.

And sometimes forgiveness becomes possible. Forgiveness of another, forgiveness of ourselves, or forgiveness of the younger version of ourselves who simply did not know then what we know now.

This is how an experience can become part of our wisdom without remaining the author of our lives.

Healing the Person You Were From the Person You Are Now

When I work with someone, I am interested in the person sitting before me today.

Because within that person may still be the child who was frightened, the young woman who was abandoned, the man who learned he could never show vulnerability, or the adult who experienced an event that fractured their sense of safety, worth, belonging, or trust.

Those aspects do not need judgment.

They need to be met from the consciousness available now.

With intention, mentorship and deep, gentle healing work, we can bring present-day awareness to something that once overwhelmed us. We can introduce choice where there was once powerlessness, understanding where there was confusion, love where there was rejection, and sovereignty where we once learned to abandon ourselves.

The person we are today can become part of the healing of the person we once were.

Healing Within This Lifetime

Through my years of healing work, spiritual guidance and intuitive knowing, I have also come to understand that healing may extend beyond the experiences of this lifetime.

Within my spiritual framework, the Soul carries an evolutionary journey. Patterns, wounds and experiences may have origins we cannot always explain through our present biography alone.

I do not believe we need to become preoccupied with discovering every past-life story.

The same principle applies:

Heal what is presenting now.

If something carried forward is affecting this life, it can be met in this life. We have an opportunity, while embodied and conscious, to resolve what is ready to be resolved and to free ourselves for a different experience of the future.

For me, this is one of the most beautiful possibilities of healing: that what is transformed today may become part of the evolution of the Soul itself.

What We Are Creating at Compass Rose

Compass Rose is a place for people who are ready to participate intentionally in their own healing and transformation.

Our work is client-centered, nurturing, intuitive and pragmatic. We honor the emotional, physical, energetic and spiritual dimensions of the person without forcing a particular belief system or predetermined healing path.

We meet what is ready.

We work with what is present.

And we keep our attention on where healing is meant to lead.

Because healing is not the destination.

Life is.

Being able to love without continually defending against yesterday. Being able to make decisions from wisdom instead of an old wound. Being able to recognize your own value without requiring someone else to validate it. Being able to experience purpose, relationship, joy, peace and possibility without the past continually determining what comes next.

We are not trying to erase your history.

We are helping you become free enough that your history no longer has to determine your future.

That is our philosophy of healing.

That is the work of Compass Rose.

Soul, healing and wholeness

The Soul Is Not Lost: Healing as a Return to Wholeness

What if healing is not about retrieving something that disappeared, but about healing the human experience enough to consciously reconnect with the Soul that never left?

Read article

At Compass Rose, our understanding of healing is rooted in a simple but important premise: the Soul does not leave us.

We may lose our conscious awareness of Soul. We may become disconnected from its guidance or live for long periods without feeling aligned with our deeper purpose.

We take many roads in our search for love, meaning, belonging, healing and individuation. Trauma, loss, relationships, illness, conditioning, survival patterns and our own free-will choices can profoundly influence the lives we create.

But through all of this, the Soul remains.

Our Soul carries the deeper wisdom of who we are, our life purpose, our destiny path and the loving guidance available to us throughout our human experience.

I think of Soul as a loving and wise parent watching a child learn to walk through the world. I don’t believe Soul abandons us when we make choices that create difficulty or when we lose our way. But neither does it step in and override our free will.

It remains present, patiently offering guidance, solace, grace and opportunities to find our way toward greater consciousness and our highest potential.

For this reason, I understand what is commonly called “soul retrieval” somewhat differently.

I do not believe another person needs to retrieve our Soul because I do not believe our Soul went anywhere.

What may need healing and integration are the parts of our human experience that became wounded, frightened, fragmented, silenced or separated from our conscious relationship with Soul.

Healing becomes less about retrieving something lost and more about remembering, reconnecting and returning to wholeness.

Chakra Balance as an Outcome

I approach the chakra system with the same understanding.

Our chakras are not simply seven energetic centers that can be permanently “balanced” during a single healing session. They are part of a complex energetic system that reflects our experiences as both human and Soul.

They carry information related to our emotions, beliefs, relationships, behaviors, wounds, patterns, consciousness and development.

If we understand Soul as having more than one human experience, then some of what we carry may not begin in this lifetime. There may be experiences we bring with us because they hold something we are here to understand, heal or move beyond.

This is why I prefer to think of chakra balance as a healing outcome rather than a treatment.

Energy work can certainly create movement. A healing session may help someone experience greater openness, peace, coherence, clarity or energetic flow. It can support the release of what the person is ready to release.

But balance is not something we achieve once and keep forever. It changes as we change physically, emotionally, mentally, energetically and spiritually.

And then life happens again.

We love and we lose. We become ill. We change careers or relationships. Something happens that touches an old wound in an entirely new way. Sometimes we suddenly see something about ourselves that we simply could not see before.

When this affects our energetic balance, it does not mean that previous healing failed.

It means we are alive and continuing to evolve.

Asking Deeper Questions

Our chakra system can therefore become an extraordinary source of information.

Rather than simply asking, “Which chakra needs balancing?” we can ask deeper questions:

What is this showing me about my human experience?

What is asking to be healed?

What pattern am I ready to understand?

What am I carrying that no longer serves the person I am becoming?

Where am I being invited into greater alignment with myself and my Soul?

This is much closer to the healing philosophy of Compass Rose.

At Compass Rose, we do not see healing as something we perform on another person because something within them needs to be fixed.

We create the conditions for healing. We offer skilled and intuitive support, work with the energetic system, and provide guiding mentorship while the individual participates intentionally in their own healing.

Sometimes that journey requires more than one practitioner or mentor.

It may involve what I think of as a Soul community: the healers, mentors, teachers and meaningful relationships that accompany us through different passages of our development.

They do not possess our Soul or our answers. At their best, they help us recognize what has always existed within us.

The Return to Wholeness

And perhaps this gives us a more meaningful interpretation of the words soul retrieval.

The Soul is not retrieved by us.

We are gradually retrieved by our Soul.

Through healing, consciousness, experience and choice, the human self begins finding its way back into conscious relationship with the Soul that never abandoned it.

This may take many paths and many years. Within a multidimensional understanding of consciousness, some aspects of our healing and evolution may span lifetimes.

There is no need to rush that process or reduce it to a single treatment.

Our work is to heal what the human experience has created, integrate what our experiences have taught us, become increasingly conscious of the wisdom within us, and allow that healing to bring our entire being into greater harmony.

Body, mind, emotions, energy and spirit begin communicating differently.

The chakra system reflects that change. Our choices reflect it. Our relationships reflect it. Our sense of purpose deepens.

And little by little, the distance we once perceived between our human self and our Soul becomes smaller.

This is the return to wholeness.

Not becoming someone we were not.

Not retrieving something that disappeared.

But healing and awakening enough to consciously embody more of what has been within us all along: our Soul, our Light, our gifts, our inner wisdom and the Divine Human expression of our highest potential.

What to expect

What Healing at Compass Rose Is — and What It Isn't

Healing does not have to mean endlessly revisiting the past. Our work focuses on what is active now, what you are ready to change, and the life you want to move toward.

Read article

People sometimes come to Compass Rose knowing they want something to change, but unsure what a healing session will actually ask of them.

Will I have to tell my whole story? Will we spend hours analyzing my childhood? Will I have to revisit painful experiences in detail? Is someone going to tell me what is wrong with me or what I need to do?

That is not how we'll work together.

Healing at Compass Rose is not talk therapy, nor is it intended to replace psychotherapy or mental health care when those services are needed. It is not a forensic search through your past, looking for every painful experience and asking you to relive it. And it is not a textbook-driven process that places you into a predetermined framework.

Your history matters. What you have lived through matters. But I do not believe we always have to repeatedly enter the pain of an experience in order to understand what it has left behind.

Often, what matters most is recognizing what is still active now.

Perhaps an old experience is affecting the way you respond in a relationship. Perhaps your body remains tense or exhausted after years of carrying too much. Fear, grief, anger, abandonment or disappointment may continue influencing your choices long after the original experience has passed.

We can acknowledge the root without becoming consumed by the story.

My work is gentle and nurturing, but it is also intentional and practical. After more than 20 years as a healer, teacher and personal transformation mentor, I bring experience, intuition, discernment and a deep respect for the inner wisdom of the person sitting with me.

I am not there to dictate your healing.

We work together.

We identify what you are experiencing now, what you would like to experience differently, and what meaningful change would look and feel like in your actual life. From there, the healing is directed toward that intention.

The outcome may be greater peace, physical comfort, emotional freedom, clearer boundaries, renewed energy, healthier relationships, greater confidence, or the ability to respond to life without an old wound continually making the decisions.

Sometimes the shift is deeply spiritual. Sometimes it is wonderfully practical. Very often, it is both.

The purpose is not to keep you endlessly processing yourself. It is to help you heal what is ready to heal, understand what is asking to be understood, and integrate that change into the way you live.

Healing at Compass Rose is ultimately about transformational life shift. It is about supporting you in moving from what has limited, depleted or held you in an old pattern toward greater freedom, balance, consciousness and wholeness.

The work begins with you.

The intention belongs to you.

And the healing is meant to support the life you are ready to live.

Understanding energetic balance

Chakra Balancing: An Outcome of Healing

Chakra balance is not necessarily a one-time treatment. It can be a natural outcome of deeper healing, awareness, energetic movement and integration.

Read article

At Compass Rose, I do not think of chakra balancing as a treatment that is performed on another person or completed within a single healing session.

I understand chakra balance as a possible outcome of healing.

Our chakras are part of a living, responsive energetic system. They reflect our emotions, relationships, beliefs, wounds, patterns, choices and development. As those experiences change us, they can also affect how energy moves through the chakra system.

Energy healing can work directly with that system. It may support greater flow where energy feels restricted, bring awareness to areas that appear depleted or overactive, encourage release where something is ready to move, and help the system return toward greater coherence.

A client may experience this as peace, openness, clarity, emotional release, physical relaxation, greater vitality or simply the feeling that something within them has shifted.

In that moment, the chakras may indeed be more balanced.

But that is different from saying, “Your chakras have been balanced.”

The distinction matters.

A chakra does not exist independently of the person living the life.

If an energetic imbalance reflects years of grief, fear, trauma, diminished self-worth, unhealthy relationships, suppressed expression or other unresolved human experiences, moving energy can support healing, but it does not automatically resolve everything that helped create the pattern.

Where Energy Healing and Personal Healing Meet

This is where energy healing and conscious personal healing beautifully meet.

The energetic shift can create an opening.

The person can then participate in what follows: recognizing patterns, healing emotional wounds, changing behaviors, developing boundaries, making different choices, understanding themselves more deeply and becoming increasingly aligned with their own inner wisdom and Soul.

Sometimes the energetic work precedes the conscious understanding. Sometimes insight creates the energetic change. Often they unfold together.

The Chakra System as Information

This is why I see the chakra system as both a participant in healing and a source of information.

Rather than approaching a chakra as something that is “wrong” and needs to be fixed, we can become curious about what it may be showing us.

What has this person lived?

What are they presently experiencing?

What is their body and energetic system responding to?

What may be ready to change?

What support will help that change become integrated rather than temporary?

The goal, then, is not perfect chakras.

The goal is a healthier, more conscious and integrated human being.

As emotional wounds heal, behaviors change, consciousness develops and our relationship with Soul deepens, the energetic system has an opportunity to reorganize around those changes.

Greater chakra balance can become a natural expression of greater balance within the person.

Balance Is Dynamic

But balance remains dynamic because we remain dynamic.

A difficult experience tomorrow may affect a chakra that feels beautifully open today. That does not erase today’s healing. It simply means the energetic system is alive and responding to our human experience.

Energy healing can help us return toward balance again and again. As deeper patterns are healed and integrated, that balance may also become more resilient.

This is the practical meaning of chakra balancing within my work:

We do not chase perfect energetic balance. We support the healing, awareness and integration through which greater balance can naturally emerge.

The chakra system then becomes not something separate from us that periodically needs correcting, but part of the extraordinary energetic intelligence of the whole human being.

What healing may support

Healing Outcomes at Compass Rose

Healing is not only about what happens during a session. It is about what begins to change within you, and how those changes may affect the way you feel, relate, make decisions and experience your life.

Healing is not only about what happens during a session. It is about what begins to change within you, and how those changes may affect the way you feel, relate, make decisions, move through challenges and experience your life.

The healing work I provide at Compass Rose is individualized to the person in front of me. My intention is to support greater balance and wholeness across the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of your life.

The methods and tools I use are chosen according to what you need and what we are intending to support.

Healing May Support

  • Deep rest and a greater sense of peace
  • Relief from the fatigue of constant activity, stress and overextension
  • Greater physical, emotional, mental and energetic balance
  • More clarity about yourself, your circumstances and your choices
  • Greater access to your own inner wisdom and inspiration
  • Recognition of patterns and experiences from a broader perspective
  • Healthier, more balanced relationships
  • Greater confidence, discernment and the capacity to lead your own life
  • A healthier relationship with receiving, prosperity and abundance
  • Greater truthfulness, integrity and alignment with yourself
  • A deeper understanding of how your inner world affects the life you are creating
  • A renewed sense of direction, purpose and possibility

More Than the Method

People often ask me what tools I use.

I have many available to me, including hands-on healing, intuitive healing, mentoring, frequency work and vibrational technologies.

But the tool is not the purpose of the session.

You are.

The purpose is to understand what you are experiencing, what you would like to change or heal, and what may help you move toward greater well-being.

Sometimes that means the body needs rest.

Sometimes there is an emotional experience asking to be resolved.

Sometimes a person has been living in constant activity, responsibility or stress for so long that they have forgotten what genuine peace feels like.

And sometimes healing opens something more subtle: a different understanding of life, greater consciousness, a clearer relationship with one’s Soul, or the return of inspiration and purpose.

This is why healing at Compass Rose is not a predetermined protocol.

We begin with you: where you are, what you are experiencing, and the outcome you are seeking.

The healing methods, tools and technologies simply become resources I can draw upon to support that intention.

Purpose, work and awakening

When Your Success Is No Longer Enough

Purpose does not always require starting over.

Read article

There are people sitting in offices, leading organizations, caring for patients, managing teams, building companies, teaching, designing, advising, solving problems and carrying enormous responsibility who are beginning to ask a very private question:

Is this all there is?

They may be accomplished. They may be respected and very good at what they do. From the outside, their lives may appear successful. Yet internally, something is changing.

The stress feels different now. The exhaustion is deeper than needing a vacation. The goals that once provided motivation may no longer feel as meaningful. There is an awareness, sometimes subtle and sometimes impossible to ignore, that there must be more to life than producing, performing, achieving and keeping everything moving.

I believe many professionals are standing at a threshold of awakening.

This does not necessarily mean leaving a profession, walking away from a successful career or abandoning the life you have created. Awakening can mean discovering who you are within that life and allowing what you discover to transform the way you live it.

Imagine what happens when a physician becomes more deeply connected to compassion and the whole human being before them. When a business leader begins making decisions from integrity rather than fear. When an attorney brings wisdom and humanity into difficult situations. When an educator recognizes the profound influence of their presence. When an executive discovers that leadership can include consciousness, discernment and service as well as strategy.

Our professions can become places where our gifts are expressed rather than places where our Souls are exhausted.

And perhaps this is part of the greater transformation occurring now.

The world does not only need spiritually aware people in healing centers, meditation rooms or places traditionally considered sacred. We need conscious people in corporations, hospitals, financial institutions, universities, technology companies, courtrooms, boardrooms and every other place where decisions affecting human lives are made.

We need people willing to bring a higher bar of integrity, awareness, responsibility and service into the structures that shape our collective experience.

That begins within the individual.

At Compass Rose Healing Arts, we work with the whole person — mental, emotional, physical and spiritual — because awakening and personal transformation rarely occur in only one part of our lives.

For one person, the doorway may be stress and exhaustion. For another, a relationship change, physical challenge, professional dissatisfaction or the persistent awareness that they have outgrown the life they are living. And for another, there may simply be an inner knowing that something more is asking to emerge.

Our mentoring, healing work and range of supportive modalities allow us to meet people where they are. There is no requirement to adopt a particular spiritual language or worldview. The work is personal, intentional and centered upon the individual — helping to quiet what has become overwhelming, understand what is changing, reconnect with inner wisdom and create space for the next expression of their life to become clear.

For some, that next expression may mean changing careers.

For many, it may mean changing who they are within the career they already have.

Purpose does not always require starting over.

Sometimes purpose is revealed when the person who has spent years developing knowledge, influence, experience and professional skill awakens more fully to who they are — and begins bringing that consciousness into everything they already touch.

Your experience has value. Your professional knowledge has value. Your position in the world has value.

But there may be another dimension of you ready to participate now.

The leader. The healer. The visionary. The compassionate human being. The person whose integrity changes a conversation, whose awareness changes a decision, whose presence changes a workplace, and whose willingness to live from a deeper truth quietly gives others permission to do the same.

This is where personal transformation becomes collective transformation.

And perhaps the question is no longer simply, “Is this all there is?”

Perhaps it is becoming:

“Who am I becoming, and what am I here to bring through the life and work I have been given?”

Compass Rose Healing Arts is a place to begin exploring that question — through conversation, mentoring, healing and individualized supportive modalities designed to meet you wherever you are on that threshold.

Not sure where to start?

Begin with the support that fits where you are.

You do not have to know exactly what you need before you begin. We can help you choose the next step that fits your body, your energy, your goals, and your budget.

Most first healing sessions begin at $165 for 90 minutes. Follow-up sessions are typically $158 for 90 minutes, with some 60-minute follow-up options at $105 when a shorter session is a better fit.

Massage, QEST4 scans, BrainTap NeuralChek, BioCharger NG, and Sound Lounge sessions have separate pricing, and we can help you choose the best option before you schedule or purchase.

A good first step may be:

  • An initial energy healing session
  • A massage or massage with Reiki session
  • A QEST4 scan for energetic insight
  • A BrainTap NeuralChek session for stress-pattern support
